Lethal Population Controls
of Canadian Geese

Dear :

I was very upset to learn that you are using lethal population control methods for Canadian Geese.

Apparently the primary concern about your goose population has to do with unsightly and irritating droppings. Recent studies indicate that the droppings are not a serious threat to human health. The roundup and slaughter approach, aside from being inhumane, is contradictory to policies of sound wildlife management. Killing off an area's resident geese only clears the way for other geese to come in and exploit the vacant niche.

Non-lethal approaches, including egg addling, hazing with dogs, and scare devices have proven to be effective control methods in other states such as Virginia and Maryland. Please explore these non-lethal means for controlling your goose population.

Thank you for time and consideration.

Sincerely,
